  26. ;- A flight of about 30 flying saucers was observed at 10:35 ;
  27. ;a.m. (PST) today over the San Carlos area, Stanley Miramon  ;
  28. ;and his mother, Mrs. Marie Maranta reported.                ;

  30. ;  Miramon said the group circled over one spot northeast of ;
  31. ;San Carlos, at an altitude of 2,000 feet. They were round,  ;
  32. ;silvery in color, and "about the size of an automobile."    ;

  35. ;general area and it appeared the pilot saw the "things" and ;
  36. ;headed toward them.                                         ;

  69. ;Army research experts can't explain the "flying saucers"    ;
  70. ;reported in several states, but they're investigating, they ;
  71. ;said.                                                       ;

  73. ;They are even considering the possibility, however remote,  ;
  74. ;that some foreign power may have something to do with the   ;
  75. ;flying discs.                                               ;
  76. ;                                                            ;
  77. ;The Army Air Forces checked all of their research           ;
  78. ;authorities and contractors, but none of them knew or could ;
  79. ;suggest anything concrete about the saucers.                ;
  80. ;                                                            ;
  81. ;At first Army officers laughed off the reports.  Now, they  ;
  82. ;are beginning to take them at least a little seriously.  At ;
  83. ;any rate, the Air research center at Wright Field is looking;
  84. ;into the reports, and all service intelligence agencies are ;
  85. ;at work on them.  Army experts suggested - as a bare        ;
  86. ;possibility - that some civilian investor has been making   ;
  87. ;some experiments of some kind.                              ;

  124. ;A flight of "flying saucers" has been reported in eastern   ;
  125. ;Canada but reaction there to the mystery missiles reported  ;
  126. ;earlier in nine states of the United States was "they're    ;
  127. ;probably leftovers from the mad hatter's tea party minus    ;
  128. ;cups, of course."                                           ;

  130. ;Dr. and Mrs. C.K. Gunn and two friends said they saw strange;
  131. ;objects "traveling at great speed high in the sky" last     ;
  132. ;Tuesday near their home at Summerside on Prince Edward      ;
  133. ;island.                                                     ;

  135. ;Roland Phillipson, one of the four, described the objects as;
  136. ;shapeless, but glistening in the sunlight.                  ;

  157. ;A U.S. meteorologist, E.E. Unger of Louisville, said he saw ;

  161. ;Mrs. Louis Goldstein, wife of a deputy sheriff at Monterrey,;
  162. ;California, reported she saw one of the "flying saucers" or ;
  163. ;discs at 7:45 a.m. (PST) today while looking out a window of;
  164. ;her home by Monterrey airport.  "I know people will say I'm ;
  165. ;crazy, but I saw a quite-rounded flying object, not         ;
  166. ;circular, with a red glow on one edge." Mrs. Goldstein said.;
  167. ;"I saw it for 10 or 15 seconds - then, suddenly it          ;
  168. ;vanished."                                                  ;

  170. ;Airlines reported no planes in flight in the area at the    ;
  171. ;time.  The only plane at the airport was grounded.          ;
  172. ;The projectiles, variously described as "too fast for an    ;
  173. ;airplane and not fast enough for a falling star," "not      ;
  174. ;moving at all," and "traveling at great speed," were        ;
  175. ;reported seen again Thursday night streaking over Denver.   ;

  177. ;It was the third report of the "saucers" this week, while   ;
  178. ;persons in Idaho, Oregon, California, New Mexico and other  ;
  179. ;states reported seeing various versions of the unexplained  ;

  185. ;said the disc, about the size of a man's hat, was traveling ;
  186. ;northward and disappeared in a few seconds.                 ;

  188. ;A Dallas man, Tom Dean, said he and his wife and daughter   ;
  189. ;saw a disc-shaped object "going like blue blazes from       ;
  190. ;northeast to southwest at cloud level" Tuesday while        ;

  192. ;resembled a flattened-out balloon and was in sight for 12   ;
  193. ;or 15 seconds.                                              ;

  196. ;over El Paso, Texas, at 3:30 p.m.  MST, Sunday, June 22,    ;

  198. ;Dickson, an optometrist.  He said it was shaped a little    ;
  199. ;like a blimp, coming to a point at each end.  The sun's rays;

  202. ;Lt. Gov. Donald S. Whitehead of Idaho said today that he saw;
  203. ;a strange comet-like object hanging high in the western sky ;
  204. ;on June 24.  That was the day Kenneth Arnold, Boise, Idaho, ;
  205. ;first reported seeing the projectiles over southeastern     ;
  206. ;Washington.                                                 ;

  208. ;Their stories varied.  Arnold had estimated the projectiles ;
  209. ;speed at 1,200 miles an hour.  Whitehead said the objects he;
  210. ;and three other witnesses saw "didn't move, but just seemed ;
  211. ;to go below the horizon with the rotation of the earth."    ;
  212. ;At Denver Henry Martin and Walter Harrod said they caught a ;
  213. ;brief glimpse of a group of "bright objects" flying at about;
  214. ;5,000 feet Thursday night.  Martin said they looked like    ;
  215. ;coffee can cups.  They were traveling in a southwesterly    ;
  216. ;direction, he said.                                         ;

  219. ;Golden Gate Bridge detail, reported seeing a dozen bright   ;
  220. ;metal objects "about the size of a football" whiz over San  ;

  224. ;discs high over Bakersfield, California, going from 200 to  ;
